midi: general knob for different switches

Post by pileo »

Hello

I try to map my midi device. I wand to use only one knob on my midi device for adjusting the parameter of speed of the selected element. Is that possible?

1) how can I select an element (switch/scene/...) wirh midi?

2) how can I adjust the speed of the (wirh midi) selected element with midi?

Thanks!

Hi,

1) You can use Program changes, or notes on/off midi messages to trigger a button (scene, switch or cycle)

2) You can affect the "Button speed function" to a knob of your suite2 console in the Live tab.

I'm not sure you understood me correctly.

I want to use one knob on my midi controller for controlling all speed settings of all switches separately. For example, if I would want to change the speed of switch XY...

1) I press a button on my controller that selects the switch
2) my "general speed know" should now change the speed of the selected switch. (and not the speed of all scenes)

Thanks

Hi,

You need a console in Suite2 to make the link between your physical midi controller and your DMX universe. You have to choose one that is corresponding to your midi controller or that is closed to your controller. Then,
You need to know what informations your midi controller is sending to Suite2 when you press a button or turn a knob. For that, you can use the "Show midi data" window in "Software preferences : midi setup".
Once you know what informations are sended by your midi controller, you need to set the Suite2 console accordingly.

Hi,

Maybe you should have a look to :

https://www.nicolaudie.com/tv.htm

and especially the video called "Console - External Control & Triggering"...
This video is clearer than my explanation...
