remote support

Post by lampy »

hi, creators,

let me introduce my self

lampy, 45 amsterdam
light engineer, favorit desks: Avolight and Zero88
build, programmed, operated and produced fashion shows (amsterdam) and festivals (cabo verde)
sound engineer, favorit desks: Midas, Soundcraft and SoundTracks
build and operated for bands and festivals holland, belgium and france
build cocktailbars, bar and club systems (light, sound and electra)
to fill the holes I'm a night engineer (light, sound and electra) in amsterdam

le berry, a small club in amsterdam bought this small pc based lighting system including your software

uhhh, ja. indeed this is a nice solution, but:

have some questions/ suggestions
since this system is on a windows platform, I made the system accessible for online support (teamviewer) thought could be handy for the guys who deliverd the system, but it's only me they call (company not available after 17:00)
when I mail those guys, the reply I get on monday morning: "upgrade the software"
----what the f*ck!----
as that i'm not familiar with the sl2006 I copied the cd to the office pc (le berry), block all my desk setup logics, as it is completely different thinking

to understand where it is used for, here is the list
3 movingheads 48ch total
24 neon wall light (on standalone dimmer) on 1ch dimmer
3ceiling armatures (just light bulbs) on 4ch dimmer ch4
6par 56 on 4ch dimmer ch 1, 2 & 3
par 36 on 4ch dimmer ch 1, 2, 3 & 4
strobe 2ch total
fazer 2ch total
4 lasers on 4ch relais pack

last night le berry ask for help
when I log in with my iPhone or pc, we have 2 operators
let me tell you: this is not handy in the heat of the moment
even the simple action: resetting the software or at last the pc, takes 2 minutes
look in my drive list and conclude that this is not possible
(the whole vennue blacks out, creating panic)

as that I want to assit/ help and service my clients I have this suggestion
create a remote settings dashboard server including
a pssw. protected backdoor systemoperator application software
a pssw. protected backdoor systemoperator app for iPhone
downloadable from the lightsystem sl2006 server pc like
http://sl2006leberry.dyndns.org:88/iphone (needs password)
http://sl2006leberry.dyndns.org:88/remoteacces (needs password)
not needed but
a blinking button on original display (system manager has logged in)?

with this option:
I'm not in the way and don't have to ask: give 10 minutes on the system
and when we understand each other
i can adjust the settings like patch, timing , interval, etc, etc on the back/ remote dashboard not anoying the operator

since the companies main sl2006 engineer has left the building
I have some more question and suggestions (not supported by the manuals)

but let's start with this

greetings
Lampy, Amsterdam

as a newbie on the block I'm not sure if i'm inserting this in the correct forum/ topic
also I don't know if application already excists
but, leaving this to the moderator

No. Nobody would use it. If you want remote access then use teamviewer.
