midi button activation

Post by steen4sun »

Hi
Sunlite
akai lpd8.
midi pad mapped to button activation.
I want a pad which everytime its activated it will trigger buttons, now it only works every second time.
examble :
created 3 pads : 1 button activating green, one triggering red, one triggering blue.
first time pad is activated, the buttons green is activated,
then I hit the pad triggering blue.
when I now activate the pad to trigger green again 2. time, nothing happends.
3. time I activate the pad, it triggers the buttons displaying green
4. time nothing
5. time the pad triggers buttons display green.
6. time nothing
But I want the pad triggering to activate buttons the first time I hit the pad, not the second time.

What am I doing wrong ?
TIA

Hi Steen,

To help try and find the problem I need to understand what messages your controller is sending.

If you could open: Software preferences : MIDI setup / click the Midi setup tab then click 'Show MIDI data'. Then press ONLY 1st button, 2nd button & 1st button again and take a screen shoot of the Midi data window and email it to me.

Also if you could send over your showfile too that would be great.

Hi Benno
Thanks for the input :-)
I was certain that my problem was regarding the switches, but you pointed my attention towards the akai lpd8 and :

When using "show midi data" I could see that
the first time I activated the pad, akai is sending note off, second time note on.
So that's why akai triggered just half the times it was activated.

I switched the mode on the akai to flash mode, which always sends note on first time .
Then I changed the midi command settings so that when note is off, the state is on.

This way when you tab the beat on the pads, it keeps the active level and then keeps the colour changed activated.

so : much better solution now.
thanks regarding the input Again
