question Re number of channels

Post by alite events »

i am looking to control a matrix of Abstract floor panels 12 x 10= 120 panels. if each tile is 4 channels will this cause me problems on one esa dongle with 480 channels in use ( 4 channels per tile, RGB and dimmer )

i only ask this as i have read the english frums and found this

The Easy Stand Alone software should be used for programming the stand alone mode of your interface. Once in stand-alone mode, the interface can control up to 248 channels.
The number of steps also depends on the number of channels which are used.
Here is an example of the step capacity according to the number of channels:

12 channels => 3581 steps
48 channels => 1100 steps
100 channels => 549 steps
148 channels => 375 steps
204 channels => 273 steps
248 channels => 225 steps

so will this restrict the complexity of my show or is that only if i go into standalone mode on the dongle, can i run as many steps and channels as i like on the laptop.

The new interface SLESA-U5 can operate 512 channels in stand alone mode. Browse the hardware manual to find the exact capacity in stand alone.
