Making Windows calls to Sunlite

Is it possible to make Windows calls to Sunlite from other programs (C++, MatLab ect.)?
If so. how is it done? Is there an online tutorial on the subject?
Is it possible to type DMX-values directly via the keyboard or are the on-screen falders mandatory?
